What I Do.....

As I provide childcare for children in their own homes I am technically classed as a 'Nanny' but with my additional qualifications and experience I offer so much more than a traditional childcare provider.

Although I am not 'teaching' your children I have a thorough knowledge of the requirements for learning set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage document. All activities with pre school children will be planned with this in mind. Activities for older children will be based on their likes and interests, keeping in mind the skills they need to learn to excel at school.

Here are some examples of the services I provide to help care for and occupy your children, whilst also helping them learn through play;

  • Creative activities such as painting, crafts, model making. I can use your own materials or I am happy to source my own.

  • Reading stories and rhymes helping to inspire children's love of books.

  • 'Pretend Play' - encouraging children to use their imaginations in role play, for example using a box as a spaceship.

  • Small world play with cars/play mobile etc.

  • Messy Play - making goop and playdough.

  • Cooking and baking - I encourage children to help prepare all meals and snacks where appropriate.

  • Music making, dancing and singing.

  • I feel strongly about children getting lots of fresh air and excercise, so any activities that can be done outside will be. We will also play lots of games outside, go exploring, nature walks and park visits.

  • Visits to local children's groups, this is particularly important with pre-school children, enabling them to socialise. I am happy to take your child to any group you choose or I can suggest some.

  • Visits to local attractions and places of interest, such as Wroxham Barns, local woods, libraries. I am constantly looking for free or reasonably priced activities for children in the local area such as craft workshops/storytelling.

  • Using computers and IT equipment to not just play games but make video's, watch web cams from around the world, make and create websites. (All computer use will be fully monitored and agreed with parents)

  • Celebrating different festivals/special days by making cards and presents, baking cakes etc.

Additional services I can provide.

Cooking

I can prepare meals for the children, all you need to do is provide the ingredients. I will always encourage the children to help in the preperation and promote the importance of healthy eating. Or if you would prefer you can leave them a packed lunch.

School and Club pick up and drop off.

I am happy to take and pick up older children from school or clubs. Please bear in mind if the school is not in walking distance I have a small car that could fit three children, but you would need to provide car seats etc. I have a full clean driving licence. When going out on visits I am happy to use my car or public transport but will always walk when possible.

Homework help

Although I am not a tutor I am happy to help with older children's homework or school projects. With my teaching background I am able to help prepare children for school and even provide additional support if they are struggling in a particular area.

Help around the house

Although I do not provide cleaning services I will always tidy up after the children. I am happy to unload/load dishwasher, hang out washing whilst I am in your home. Please just ask. Although obviously my first priority is caring for the children.
